The team that built automated policy-violation detection for the Music catalog and a streaming fraud platform. Told from what I have published, without Amazon’s internal detail.

From March 2021 to July 2022 I led the Amazon Music Fraud & Content Moderation team as a Senior Lead Software Engineer.
The problem
A music catalog that takes in tracks from many distributors has to catch content that breaks its policies, and a streaming service has to tell real listening from abuse. Both have to happen without getting in the way of the artists and listeners doing nothing wrong.
What I led
The team designed content-moderation solutions that detect policy violations in the Music catalog, and a streaming fraud platform doing stateful processing at high volume.
Alongside the team’s work I took part in Amazon’s org-wide and company-wide bar-raising communities.

What went wrong
Not on this page. Incidents, numbers and internal design belong to Amazon, and this page sticks to what I have published on LinkedIn. If Amazon publishes more, I’ll link it here.
